April 15th, Thursday 2010 , bore witness to the manifestation of two t-shirt designs, Kaiju Invades and the Predator, collaborated on by artist Mark Todd as well as Mishka in-house designer, Mike Jones. Mishka, an urban- lifestyle boutique that's been around since 2003, has been purveyor to the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn since opening their flagship in March of 2009. In addition to the t-shirts' launch, Mark Todd exhibited a collection of comic book covers that he has altered over the past 4 years. From the Fantastic-Four to Captain America, Mark uses paint, clear projector paper, acrylics, needle, silk-screen prints and type-written fonts to convey subtle inuendos relating to said comic book covers. Mark's comic book pieces are exclusive one-offs and you can find a few of them for sale here via the Mishka online shop. Comic, art, and fashion fiends alike should all find something here to pique their interest. Thanks to Miguel Irons and Mike Bortnick for allowing me the photo-op.

Apple's iPhone 4GS/3GS 4G?

As a nut for technology, this makes me nuttier. Yesterday, shots of the purported fourth-generation iPhone leaked my way via a story somewhat similar to my point&shoot camera recovery, albeit more nefarious. The shots and investigated specs amount to the below. Android, WackBerry, and Palm are due for their comeuppance... although out of the three I bet Android fares the better. Will you be picking one up?

Specs:

1. Front-facing camera

2. Better back-facing camera with dedicated flash

3. Thinnest iPhone form factor to date

4. Second mic for noise cancellation

5. Higher-resolution display albeit smaller in size than previous generation

6. New glass/ceramic encased backing

7. ... Not to mention the long overdue multi-tasking oriented iPhone OS4

A couple of weeks back I was granted a photo-op by Renato Garcia, manager of the lifestyle boutique, Commonwealth, to capture a photography exhibit called "Hang 'Em High" at their Norfolk location. The exhibit featured 6 local photographers from the Tidewater area and their work, as seen below. Commonwealth, open since 2004, have two locations; Norfolk and Washington DC. If you're in the area, stop in- say hi- and pick up some dope gear... after first coming over to my family's shop. Thanks Renato.

STPL 2010

HC

STPL, a design-lifestyle brand borne and housed in your oh-so-trendy hood of the lower east side, has unveiled their 2010 spring collection before a uninhabited-scape of Wall Street. How symbolic than to hop on the coattails of this month's Vanity Fair issue titled, 'Money' - motif, or is it perhaps, coincidence? Having twice been employed in that 'burg of Manhattan, I can guarantee that no one would be caught dead dressing like that there, although the colors and silhouettes, made in Japan for this season, would make anybody think twice.
